Valve body testing Hydra-Test

HYDRA TEST

When testing the modern electronically controlled valve bodies of today, it is important to assure that the hydraulics and electronics are operating within design parameters before mounting the valve body to the transmission.

Technology is moving on and most manufactures are introducing 6, 7 and 8 speed transmissions to their new production vehicles. Valve bodies are using what is referred to as current controlled solenoids to act on a particular clutch valve. Either the solenoid or the valve itself must be calibrated correctly to ensure correct shifting. When The solenoid and circuit are working correctly the valve will be positioned precisely to progressively apply or exhaust the clutch assembly. This of course is extremely important during a gear shift. As an apply clutch is filling and another is exhausting, the overlap of this function is critical for smooth gear shifting. Unique features of the VBDaq system are the ability to calibrate these solenoids and apply valves. Another ground breaking feature is the ability to determine an accurate pass/fail percentage using the one and only “Easy Limits” function incorporated into VBDaq. Without a VBT test machine and VBDaq it would be practically impossible to calibrate solenoids and clutch valves with any accuracy. VBDaq provides the operator with a plug and play diagnostic tool that is simple to use with simple to read graphs and printed pass/fail data. The system also gives the operator the ability to save as many reports as required and to call up previously saved reports for comparison by a simple touch of the screen.
